The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Faruk Medical City provides round-the-clock family centered care for the critically ill newborn with critical care needs. It is equipped with the latest technology and advances in neonatal medicine.
Criteria for Admission
The criteria for admission should be at least 32 weeks up to full term (40 weeks AOG) or 0-30 days old newborn that requires intensive monitoring.

We are proud to have both local and international staff who are competent and trained in delivering high quality medical and nursing care to the critically-ill newborns.
Equipment
The unit totally has a five-bed capacity including one isolation room and are all connected to cardiac monitors. Four ventilators are readily available in which three of these has functional CPAP and one additional Bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) with connections are accessible as well.
A portable transport incubator is also used for transporting babies from Operating Room and during ambulance services. Wall mounted suction, oxygen and air are easily accessible in the unit.
The unit is also equipped with five Bili beds for phototherapy and a transcutaneous bilirubin meter for jaundice monitoring.
Breastfeeding Service
The unit also has a separate breastfeeding room with a specialized facilities to accommodate and ensure a comfortable mother and baby bonding. The breastfeeding Service also includes complete amenities for safe breast milk storage.
